This is an abstract mural painting I did with my (then) four-year-old son, David. The six squares are painted together, then rearranged. The final effect is a freeing and imaginative invitation to proscribe personal meaning and form.
Throughout the project, David questioned: "Is it the ocean?” “Is it clouds, Daddy?” “What do you think it is, David?” I asked. I think he finally settled on waves and clouds, and carefully painted a rough version of shapes I had repeated throughout. We signed our names together on the bottom right square.
