Weedmaps' cart forces customers to gamble: pick a dispensary before knowing only that it stocks the first item the customer has searched for, then hope it happens to carry everything else on their list. I quantified how often that gamble fails …and it turned out the odds of a dispensary carrying all the products the customer has in mind are astronomically low and was a primary contributor to an exodus of customers from the shopping funnel.

Noticing an existing feature on certain product detail pages that reveals what retailers carry the item, I came to the idea that this awareness could be aggregated across several product selections and synthesized to propose several good retailer options to the customer. This would enable them to make an informed choice as to whether and where to continue with a functional cart (bag), rather than guess at what retailer may have what they need.
